IMIP undergraduate students benefit from a modern campus and extensive infrastructure, including 18 auditoriums and classrooms with capacity for more than 1,500 seats.

This infrastructure, combined with IMIP’s expertise in healthcare education, attracts students and professionals from across Brazil and abroad seeking to enhance their scientific knowledge.

Since IMIP’s foundation, more than 20,000 professionals have completed internships and training programs at the institution, which annually welcomes approximately 3,000 undergraduate students and 700 medical and uni- and multiprofessional residents for practical training.

  • Mandatory Medical Internship – General Surgery and Plastic Surgery

    MANDATORY CURRICULAR INTERNSHIP IN GENERAL SURGERY

    Coordinator – Cristiano de Souza Leão

    Internship Overview – Theoretical and practical training in General Surgery, with emphasis on the most prevalent pathologies. The program adopts an active learning methodology based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL), focusing on cognitive development (knowledge), psychomotor skills (development of abilities and professional attitudes), and affective-emotional competencies (ethical and humanistic relationships). The internship is structured to provide students with supervised experience in surgical areas, enabling them to perform evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of adult surgical diseases. Training activities include daily theoretical sessions and participation in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, operating rooms, endoscopy, and anesthesia services.

    MANDATORY CURRICULAR INTERNSHIP IN PLASTIC SURGERY

    Coordinator – Dr. André Luiz Coutinho

    Internship Overview – Theoretical and practical training across several areas of Plastic Surgery, including wards and outpatient clinics in General Plastic Surgery and subspecialties such as craniofacial congenital malformations, breast reconstruction, microsurgery, and head and neck surgery. Surgical procedures are carried out at the IMIP Surgical Center, Oscar Coutinho Unit, Pedro II Hospital, and outpatient surgery facilities, under specialized medical supervision. The program aims to prepare students for the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of prevalent conditions requiring Plastic Surgery interventions.

  • Mandatory Medical Internship – Pediatric Surgery and Pediatrics

    MANDATORY CURRICULAR INTERNSHIP IN PEDIATRIC SURGERY

    Coordinator – Dr. Luciana Santana Lima

    Internship Overview – Theoretical and practical in-service training across several areas of Pediatric Surgery, including the Pediatric Surgery Ward, Pediatric Emergency Department, Pediatric Surgery Outpatient Clinic, and clinical meetings with the specialties of Radiology, Nephrology, Oncology, Gastroenterology, and Endocrinology. The program is conducted under specialized medical supervision and aims to prepare students for the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of the most prevalent surgical diseases affecting the pediatric population.

    MANDATORY CURRICULAR INTERNSHIP IN PEDIATRICS

    Coordinator – Mônica Coentro

    Internship Overview – Theoretical and practical training based on active learning methodologies, carried out in different Pediatric Department practice settings, including general pediatric wards, neonatology units (rooming-in care and delivery room), pediatric emergency services, and pediatric outpatient clinics. Under specialized medical supervision, the internship aims to prepare students for the evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of the most prevalent diseases affecting the pediatric population, while also promoting the development of professional skills and attitudes related to pediatric patient care.

  • Mandatory Medical Internship – Internal Medicine

    MANDATORY CURRICULAR INTERNSHIP IN INTERNAL MEDICINE

    Coordinator – Filipe Correia Portella

    Internship Overview – Theoretical and practical in-service training in the field of Internal Medicine, using a teaching methodology based on the principles of active learning and Problem-Based Learning (PBL). The program focuses on cognitive development (knowledge), psychomotor competencies (development of skills and professional attitudes), and affective-emotional competencies (ethical and humanistic relationships).

  • Mandatory Medical Internship – Radiology and Diagnostic Imaging

    MANDATORY CURRICULAR INTERNSHIP IN RADIOLOGY AND DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING

    Coordinator – Dr. Filipe Aragão Felix

    Internship Overview – Theoretical and practical training in the Conventional Radiology Department, under specialized medical supervision, aimed at providing students with fundamental knowledge of General Radiology examinations. The internship also includes direct patient interaction, such as collecting clinical data and medical history prior to Computed Tomography (CT) examinations, under the supervision of first-year residents. Students also participate in seminars, clinical meetings, and observation and discussion of radiology reports within the Radiology Department.

  • Mandatory Medical Internship – Obstetrics and Gynecology

    MANDATORY CURRICULAR INTERNSHIP IN OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY

    Coordinator – Claudia Viana Henriques

    Internship Overview – Theoretical and practical in-service training in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology, including gynecology wards, high-risk pregnancy and postpartum care units, obstetric screening services, delivery rooms, general and specialty outpatient clinics, and the obstetric intensive care unit (ICU). Conducted under specialized medical supervision, the internship aims to provide training focused on women’s health promotion, as well as the diagnosis and appropriate management of diseases and clinical conditions.

  • Undergraduate Nursing Program

    UNDERGRADUATE NURSING PROGRAM – MANDATORY CURRICULAR INTERNSHIPS

    Internship Overview – Continuous in-service training under supervision, involving students’ participation in practical settings such as hospital and outpatient care environments, combined with theoretical activities and case studies conducted under supervision. The Nursing internship focuses on the development of skills and competencies according to previously established objectives, emphasizing systematic nursing care for women’s, children’s, adults’, and elderly people’s health across primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare services, based on nursing semiology and semiotechnique principles. The program promotes the development of individualized, comprehensive, and holistic care, while also providing a foundation for scientific research activities.

  • Undergraduate Pharmacy Program

    UNDERGRADUATE PHARMACY PROGRAM – MANDATORY CURRICULAR INTERNSHIPS

    Coordinator – Ítala Morgânia Farias da Nóbrega

    Internship Overview – The internship includes theoretical and practical activities that enable Pharmacy students to enhance the knowledge acquired throughout the teaching and learning process. Internship activities are carried out continuously under the supervision of a preceptor, representing an opportunity for action, reflection, and practical application of knowledge developed through teaching, research, and extension activities. The program focuses on the development of competencies related to hospital pharmaceutical care for children, women, adults, and older adults, promoting the development of students’ skills and competencies for individualized patient and family care, while also encouraging participation in scientific research initiatives.

  • Undergraduate Physical Therapy Program

    UNDERGRADUATE PHYSICAL THERAPY PROGRAM – MANDATORY CURRICULAR INTERNSHIPS

    Internship Overview – The internship includes theoretical and practical activities that enable Physical Therapy students to enhance the knowledge acquired throughout the teaching and learning process. Internship activities are carried out continuously under the supervision of a preceptor, representing an opportunity for action, reflection, and practical application of knowledge developed through teaching, research, and extension activities. The program focuses on the development of competencies related to physical therapy care for children, women, adults, and older adults, promoting the development of students’ skills and competencies for individualized patient and family care, while also encouraging participation in scientific research initiatives.

  • Undergraduate Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Program

    UNDERGRADUATE SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY AND AUDIOLOGY PROGRAM – MANDATORY CURRICULAR INTERNSHIPS

    Coordinator – Carla Baptista Vasquez Cordeiro

    Internship Overview – Supervised internship in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, covering the areas of language, oral motor skills, voice, and audiology. Internship activities are carried out continuously under the supervision of a preceptor, representing an opportunity for action, reflection, and practical application of knowledge developed through teaching, research, and extension activities. In accordance with current legislation, the supervised internship does not establish any employment relationship between the student and the affiliated institution. Its exclusive purpose is the theoretical and practical development of students.

  • Undergraduate Nutrition Program

    UNDERGRADUATE NUTRITION PROGRAM – MANDATORY CURRICULAR INTERNSHIPS

    Coordinator – Chika Wakiyama

    Internship Overview – Conducted in the areas of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) and Clinical Nutrition within the hospital setting, the internship enables students to expand their knowledge through in-service training, including observation of operational workflows and routines of the Nutrition Department and/or participation in activities inherent to the nutritionist profession under preceptor supervision.

    In clinical nutrition activities carried out in inpatient and outpatient settings, students will gain experience in nutritional status assessment, participation in interdisciplinary rounds, preparation of dietary prescriptions, medical record documentation, patient guidance during hospital discharge and outpatient follow-up, involvement in nutrition education activities, and scientific research initiatives.

    The program also includes clinical case study presentations, seminars, development of new protocols and guidelines, and participation in scientific activities promoted by the institution.

  • Undergraduate Dentistry Program

    UNDERGRADUATE DENTISTRY PROGRAM – MANDATORY CURRICULAR INTERNSHIPS

    Coordinator – Veronica Maria da Rocha Kozmhinsky

    Internship Overview – Continuous in-service training under supervision, carried out through students’ participation in outpatient practice settings, combined with theoretical activities such as seminars, journal clubs, and critical reading of scientific articles. The program aims to prepare students for the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases affecting the stomatognathic system, while improving the knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes required for the practice of Dentistry. Its exclusive purpose is the theoretical and practical development of students.

  • Undergraduate Psychology Program

    UNDERGRADUATE PSYCHOLOGY PROGRAM – MANDATORY CURRICULAR INTERNSHIPS

    Coordinators – Eliane Nóbrega Albuquerque and Eduardo Falcão Felisberto da Silva

    Internship Overview – The Clinical/Hospital Psychology and Psychological Assessment Laboratory internship aims to promote the development of competencies in accordance with the active learning approach. The program includes theoretical and practical activities carried out continuously under the supervision of preceptors, supervisors, and tutors, serving as an opportunity to consolidate the knowledge acquired through teaching, research, and extension activities.

    At the end of the internship, students are expected to be able to formulate psychodynamic hypotheses, demonstrate effective engagement with each case, develop therapeutic intervention plans, and apply the theoretical and clinical foundations required for professional psychological practice.
