Library
IMIP’s Library was founded in the 1960s and, starting in 2002, became known as the Ana Bove Library, in honor of the public health educator who worked alongside Professor Fernando Figueira. Over the years, the department underwent several physical restructurings and, in January 2023, moved to IMIP’s Teaching and Research Building, offering study halls with tables, individual study booths, group study rooms, computers with Internet access, and wireless network connectivity.
The Library’s main mission is to efficiently and effectively meet the scientific information needs of its users, collect, organize, preserve, and disseminate the scientific production developed by the IMIP community, and support the preparation of institutional publications, seeking to strengthen IMIP’s healthcare assistance, teaching, research, and extension activities.
In-person service hours are Monday through Thursday, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Patron

Born on March 16, 1911, and deceased on July 14, 1999, Ana Bove played a remarkable role in the life of Professor Fernando Figueira, founder of IMIP, and his family. A public health educator by profession, she taught courses for several healthcare fields and demonstrated her creative sensitivity through the pioneering Couples Preparation Course, which achieved great success in the city of São Paulo. As a journalist, she also maintained columns on radio programs and newspapers in São Paulo. Ana Bove’s life journey was primarily marked by constant dedication and generosity. She never allowed herself to be discouraged and was always willing to support the growth and advancement of others.
Physical Collection
Specialized in healthcare and related fields, the physical collection consists of books, booklets, journals, and gray literature (monographs, dissertations, and theses defended within the institution’s postgraduate programs), as well as supplementary reading titles, offering users options for leisure reading. The entire collection is cataloged in the Pergamum system and may be accessed HERE.
Digital Collection
The Library is responsible for the Hígia Repository, IMIP’s intellectual production management platform, whose main functions are to host, provide access to, and give visibility to the technical and scientific works produced by the hospital’s healthcare professionals, as well as by students and faculty members affiliated with the institution, including theses, dissertations, technical products, books, and much more.
Seeking to maintain close engagement with its user community and guide them in the proper use of scientific information, the Library manages partnerships and promotes major online health information portals through user training activities, including the Virtual Health Library (BIREME), PubMed, and the CAPES Journal Portal, the latter offering remote access through the Federated Academic Community (CAFe).
