  • Exchange Programs

    The professional master’s program benefits from partnerships established by IMIP graduate education as a whole (stricto sensu and lato sensu) and therefore maintains a close relationship with the Teaching and Research Departments, integrating undergraduate and scientific initiation students (PIBIC).

    IMIP has a long-standing history of cooperation with institutions such as the Ministry of Health and Science and Technology, PAHO, and WHO. It has also established cooperation agreements with the National Supplementary Health Agency (ANS) to promote experience exchange and joint project execution through a network of Collaborative Centers aimed at improving regulatory mechanisms for supplementary healthcare services offered to the Brazilian population.

  • Integration with Society, Services, and the Job Market

    The integration with society can be observed through the profile of graduates, faculty, and students, as well as their insertion into the labor market, healthcare system, educational system, and society as a whole.

    The master’s program is committed to training healthcare professionals with broad expertise in palliative care assistance and research, capable of working in teaching, research, technical-scientific development, scientific production, and continuous improvement of their work environments.

    Faculty members, students, and graduates participate in public and private healthcare sectors through activities related to education, care, and management. Several faculty members also serve in technical chambers of regional and federal professional councils, state committees, Ministry of Health committees, scientific societies, representative organizations, and editorial boards.

  • Social Impact

    The program’s social impact is undeniable and is continuously expanding, considering the objectives of a Professional Master’s Degree. The Health Residency Program enables this integration, which is strengthened by the activities of the Professional Master’s Program.

    This integration is reflected in activities such as:

    • Training qualified human resources in management and evaluation;
    • Training professionals to work in Residency Matrix Support activities in other states, such as Maranhão and Bahia (with IMIP acting as the promoting institution)
    • Collaboration with other Brazilian graduate programs through researchers from its faculty core.
  • Internationalization

    It is important to highlight the specific characteristics of a professional master’s program, where most students are enrolled in health residency programs with mandatory 60-hour workweeks and standardized activities. These conditions limit long-term internationalization opportunities; however, students continue to be encouraged to engage in international activities in various ways.

    The program encourages short-term internships, especially through optional rotations. In addition, shorter activities such as participation in events, presentation of papers, publication of articles, and development of joint distance-learning projects have been strongly encouraged with international organizations and institutes.

  • Alumni

    The graduates of IMIP’s Professional Master’s Program in Palliative Care represent one of the most important indicators of the Program’s quality, relevance, and social impact. Equipped with strong competencies in clinical care, teaching, research, and healthcare management, our alumni contribute to the advancement of palliative care services and education across Brazil.

    Our alumni are recognized as critical thinkers, ethical professionals, and innovators committed to improving the quality of care for patients with serious illness and their families. Many work directly in specialized palliative care services, hospitals, and primary healthcare settings, while others hold leadership positions in healthcare organizations or serve as faculty members and educators.

    The Program continuously monitors alumni career development through various follow-up strategies, enabling the assessment of training outcomes and the strengthening of professional and academic networks.

    Key achievements of our graduates include:

    • Development of scientific research and technical-technological products aimed at improving palliative care practice;
    • Admission to doctoral programs and other advanced educational opportunities;
    • Participation in teaching, community outreach, and healthcare innovation projects;
    • Meaningful contributions to the expansion and qualification of palliative care services in diverse healthcare settings.

    Alumni consistently identify the Program’s interdisciplinary approach, integration of theory and practice, and strong emphasis on translating scientific knowledge into healthcare improvements as its major strengths.
